You can now become a director on Youtube without filling out a form and stuff.
1.Go to http://www.youtube.com/my_profile
2. Click on where it says Change channel type.
3. Choose Director from the drop down list.
The only problem is that all the normal video restrictions still apply doing it this way(or they did for me anyway). Also for no reason
